We are headed across the country for six weeks in a Suburu Forester. This blog will hopefully capture all of our adventures along the way.

Cape Cod
Ian and I have been relaxing on the Cape since Wednesday. It has been so nice to be somewhere that is familiar. It's also nice to be somewhere with high powered AC! My parents and lindsay came down to see us. We walked around Chatham and went to the beach for the day. We did have a little rocky situation on the Jedi... But we worked through it and everyone was okay!!

NYC
We were only in new York for 24 hours but we had the best time! Ian and I actually surprised ourselves with how well we maneuvered ourselves around the city. We took the subway on our own three times!! During the day we spent some time in central park and then the high line. We also saw the 9/11 memorial.

Philly
It was so nice to see Hannah and Sam in Philly last night! We ate a delish cheesesteak, did a quick tour of some Philly things and hung out at a cool bar downtown! We had so much fun! On to NYC today...

Washington DC
We spent the morning in Washington DC. I don't think we realized when we planned this trip that we will be seeing three big cities in three days... DC, Philly, NYC. It's going to be a busy three days filled with lots of great friends!! I can not wait!
This morning we saw a lot of the different monuments. Ian has never seen them so it was fun to look around with him! We also met my cousin Lauren who works for senator Leahy in the afternoon. She gave us a private tour of the capital building. We also got to check out One of Leahy's offices! We learned tons of stuff from the tour!

Charleston, South Carolina
We are on the home stretch now! Only a few more days and we will be lounging at the Cape! We spent last night visiting our friend Matt in Charleston. Even though we were only here for 24 hours... We still had a blast. We walked around downtown and ate dinner right on the water. The downtown is so pretty and historical looking. Then Matt took us on a cruise on his boat to a cool bar on the water! It was a lot of fun. We will be in D.C tonight!

Florida
After New Orleans we went down to Englewood, Florida to visit some of Ian's family. It was so nice to see them and meet some of his family I haven't met before! We went to the beach and hung out by the pool. The whole family went out for pizza and then played some card games after! It was great to be in one place for a few days. It was even better to be in a place with some family!

New Orleans
We had so much fun in New Orleans! We got to the city last night and were happy to find out we got upgraded to a suite in our hotel. Our hotel is awesome... It is literally a block away from bourbon st. We spent last night on Bourbon st! We made some new friends, ate some delicious food, and drank way too many drinks in big cups!
This morning we woke up (very tired) and went on a swamp tour in the bayou! It was so cool to see all of the alligators and houses right on the water.
We went out to dinner at the Acme Oyster House for some traditional new Orleans food. I got jambalaya and Ian got a shrimp po boy! They were so good! We are staying in tonight because we have to get up early for an 11 hour drive to Florida! One night on Bourbon st is enough for us! We loved New Orleans with all of the cool bars, yummy food, and jazz music!

Last night in the car!!!!
Last night was our last night sleeping in the car! I am very excited to be sleeping on a bed or in a building from here on out. It's a little sad because it means our trip is coming to an end. I am so happy we made the bed in the back of our car though. It was a lot better than sleeping in a tent and we didn't have to set anything up!

Texas
We have been in Texas now for two days. Last night we stayed in a hotel in Amarillo. The first thing we noticed was how friendly everyone is around here! Today we spent some time in Dallas. We went to the cowboys stadium!
Then we went to this cool place with a lot of cowboy shops and rodeo shows. We walked around, tried on some cowboy hats, and ate dinner at Billy Bobs ( a huge bar or as they call it "honkey tonk"). The place could fit about 6000 people in it! We watched some couples do a dance lesson which was pretty entertaining.

Grand Canyon
We stopped to see the Grand Canyon this afternoon. It was so much prettier than I thought it was going to be! We hiked a small path and took a lot of great pictures.
Las Vegas
We are driving to the grand canyon... Leaving Vegas tired and with a little less money than we had before. Neither of us had been so we were very overwhelmed when we arrived! We walked the strip the night we got there and saw many of the famous casinos. I loved the Bellagio fountains!
We stayed at the Luxor ( the giant pyramid). It was crazy how many different bars and restaurants were just in our hotel. We ate at the buffet for dinner (Ian had a field day).
The next day we hung out by the pool for most of the day. We were able to get a lot of good deals on drinks and food from this coupon book that we got when we checked in. We saw a show last night too... A Criss Angel magic show which was wicked cool! Overall it was a crazy two days filled with lots of alcohol and people! It was a lot of fun but I think we are ready to move on... We will be in the grand canyon later today!

San Francisco
We spent two days in San Francisco staying with my cousin Sarah. Thanks Sarah for letting us stay with you! We did a really good job of hitting all of the tourist spots... Pier 39, the golden gate bridge, the full house street, Lombard street, China town. We even rode a cable car!
Yesterday we tried surfing in a little town just outside of San Francisco. We rented wet suits and surf boards. It was my favorite thing we have done so far! Ian got up a bunch and I even got up a few times.
Sarah took us to some really cool places for dinner that we would have never found on our own. Both places were so good! I was also very surprised at how steep the hills there were. I knew that San Francisco was hilly... But it was a serious work out!
We are on our way to Las Vegas now! I am so excited!!! Both of us have never been so it should be entertaining!
